Project Background
To kick off the score, we talked with our directors about tone, instrumentation and cultural expectations. Ultimately, we took a more organic approach with the music: cellos, violin, ambient drones, piano and hand percussion.

Although part of the film was shot in Afghanistan, we didn't want our music choices to be too overt. The soundtrack was drone heavy to start, so we infused regional instruments into those ambient drones for a more subtle, authentic sound.
